Spending time with friends and family and enjoying our time up in the mountains is such a fun way to begin the new year. I look forward to it every year. But with the altitude and it is the middle of winter, it can wreak havoc on your skin and make you feel dehydrated and terrible. It usually takes me a couple of days to get fully acclimated, but with these items, the transition tends to be a little smoother.
Everlasting Comfort Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier ($59)
I can’t go to sleep at night without my humidifier on. Living full time at the beach, the transition to a drier climate can be an absolute nightmare without some of that moisture. It’s nice to wake up in the morning without that super dry feeling. You can’t really go wrong with choosing a humidifier brand, but I love how much water this holds for long stretches of time, especially while sleeping. Also, this one has a tray for essential oils, which takes things to a whole other level.
Basic Care Saline Nasal Spray ($6)
Saline spray is essential in any type of dry weather. I use saline spray on the airplane when I travel, in the desert, and up in the mountains. The great thing about the saline spray is that it is nonaddictive, without any bad chemicals, and you can use it as many times as you want. I always use it before I go to bed, and before I go skiing. I usually put them in every bathroom in my house, so buying in a two-pack is good. Saline spray is usually good for two years before it expires.
Vaseline Baby Gentle Protective Petroleum Jelly (SET OF SIX FOR $13)
Vaseline is in almost every household and used for so many things. I love vaseline particularly in the mountains to use for a dry nose. Take a small amount on your finger or a cotton swab to the lining of your nose. I use it at night before I go to bed. It will help keep your nose moisturized and it’s safe to ingest.
Patagonia Women’s Nano Puff Jacket ($200)
I love this Patagonia jacket. It is my go to. I have had it for years. The cut is great and contours your body, it’s warm, lightweight, and easy to roll up and put in your suitcase. I love it in black, but it comes in many colors.
Mou Eskimo WEDGE SHORT ($330)
There is something about these boots that I love. They resemble a UGG, but they have a wedge which gives your booty a little lift. They’re made of high-quality Italian materials and are extremely comfortable. They come in all kinds of colors, prints, and styles. Of course, I love them in Black or Grey. Not that many people know about Mou, so you won’t see a lot of these boots around.
Aritizia Kiira Beanie ($25)
I love all types of hats, especially beanies, and ones that are slouchy – it gives a little attitude! The one I am wearing in this picture is the Kiira from Aritzia. I love the textured knit, and it’s lightweight so you can transition from outdoors to indoors without getting hot. The hat comes in lots of fun colors!
Alicia Adams Alpaca Lounge sock ($69)
These chunky knit socks are a luxurious treat, handmade from 100% alpaca. They are great to wear around the house, but much too big to try to wear a shoe. They are a great gift that anyone would love!
DoTERRA PEPPERMINT OIL
I use my essential oils all year long. As the seasons change, I have found that certain oils are more helpful than others. During the winter season, there are certain risks to your health that you want to be able to combat. Days are shorter and those who are prone to depression and anxiety may notice that their symptoms are worse. Peppermint is a mood booster! It helps to eliminate fatigue, and it helps stimulate your immune system. Peppermint can also help with sinus pressure. Other beneficial winter oils are lavender, oregano, lemon, and frankincense.
