Planning date nights has become trickier during the pandemic. Being unable to go out as frequently as you used to before shouldn’t be a reason to put the brakes on romance! In fact, you can have a perfectly good date night at home with your partner.

Here’s how you can do that.

Dine In

As romantic as going to fancy restaurants is, you don’t necessarily need a fine dining restaurant for your date. Try dining in on your date for change and having a delicious meal at home.

This may not seem like an exciting idea if you and your partner live together, but trust us on this one. To make dining in a date-like experience different from all those other nights the two of you have eaten at home, do things a little differently. Take out your best cutlery that’s kept locked up in the china, and set the table with fancy napkins and décor. Light up a few candles, put on some light music, and dress up just the way you would when going out to a restaurant.

You both can also cook a special dinner together. This will allow you both to spend time together before you sit down to eat, and have fun in the kitchen while you’re at it. Use this moment to make something you haven’t cooked before, or to recreate a favorite recipe.

Pick a Theme

Ordering a pizza and watching Netflix is a pretty good idea for a casual date night, but why not take things up a notch and pick a theme for the evening? For example, you can pay homage to your first ever date by incorporating elements from the past into the date night. Alternately, you can stick to a different theme altogether, and plan the evening accordingly.

The theme doesn’t have to be anything complicated. You can do something as simple as picking your favorite board games or a movie genre to watch. Get creative!

Try Something New

When was the last time the two of you did something together for the first time? A stay-at-home date night is the perfect opportunity to try something new together.

Think of all those things you’ve both wanted to do but haven’t gotten around to yet. From baking a three-layer cake together to painting with watercolors or trying your hand at crafting, there are so many things you can choose from. In fact, if you both typically eat only certain foods and flavors, you can even bring something new to the night’s menu and order something you haven’t tried before.
