Being together for the holidays is what I live for in life. Every year I am so blessed to have my entire family home for Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, this year it did not happen. My mother in law and her husband have stayed back east. My parents, my brother, and his family stayed in Vegas. You can all guess for what reason (fucking Covid-19). Sorry to use bad words, but I was so bummed!
As usual, I breathe, keep my head up, meditate, exercise, keep a smile on my face, and think positively. I am optimistic by nature; it has to be pretty bad for me to feel down. If you aren’t born optimistic, it can be learned, but it can be tough in this environment. Practicing positivity is important in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. During this pandemic, I have read some articles that share good tactics to develop a more positive attitude or a better mood.
Music is the best way to boost a mood. Whether you are just hanging out, driving in your car, hiking, doing yoga, or even cooking, music is the best! Make a playlist on an account such as Spotify, Pandora, Amazon Music, or Soundcloud. You can make your own list of our lookup playlists. Here are my favorite playlists on Spotify
- Good vibes only (Avery)
- Yoga mix (Alexis King)
- Hanging out and relaxing (Spotify)
- Lazy Sunday (Spotify)
- Coffee + Chill (Spotify)
- Relax + Unwind (Spotify)
- Ultimate cooking dinner playlist (1154726618)
All of us have so many daily passwords that we use. From our social media to our bank accounts, it’s all so hard to keep track of. Why not sprinkle some positivity into your daily life by changing your passwords to something that makes you feel good. Small acts of self-affirmation have been shown to activate reward messages in the brain. Here are some examples of passwords.
- your kids names
- your parent’s names
- pets names
Move your body
You need to move your body every day; however, you can do it; it’s the key to life. Any psychologist or doctor will tell you the same, and it will increase your feeling of positivity. Additionally, exercise will also help you feel more energized for the day. It gets your heart pumping and stimulates oxygen circulation around your body, resulting in you feeling more awake. Simply just walking a dog will boosts endorphins and lift your mood.
A routine both morning and night is critical to stay positive and motivated. Try to get up a certain time each day, eat a healthy diet, and make sure to get enough rest. I will say the only positive thing I have found with my daughter’s school being online is that I don’t have to get up early every morning. Here is a normal weekly schedule for me.
- 8:00am-wake up
- 8:00-8:30am-lemon water
- 9:00-10:30- exercise
- 10:30-12:00- shower, clean, eat
- 12:00-4:00- blog, grocery, errands
- 4:30-5:30-prepare dinner
- 6:30-7:30-clean up
- 7:30-10:00- watch tv, read
- 10:00- Good night
I am a big fan of smells and scents. You can boost your health and mood by surrounding yourself with pleasant scents. I’m sure you love it when you walk into a home with fresh chocolate chip cookies baking; it gives you comfort. Or when you are in the mountains, and you smell fresh pine. There are so many varieties of candles, diffusers, incense, room sprays, linen sprays, detergents, perfumes, and much more. Here are some of my favorite scents that make me feel good
- The Good Home Co-Beach days-sheet/linen spray, laundry detergent
- Diptyque candle-Baies
- West Elm diffuser-Madagascar
- Satya incense-Nag Champa
- Tova Perfume-my all-time favorite
