People are often surprised at how old I am, and I will tell you, it is mostly in my attitude along with how I present my self. I feel that less is more, especially when it comes to makeup. I’m often asked what kind of makeup I use, and it all depends on what I am doing for the day, or what season it is. In this post, I will fill you in on my 10 favorite makeup items that I use. In the summer I tend to use less makeup because of the heat. I always like to look fresh and dewy. Most of the products I use to have some sort of illumination, glowing ingredients.
The go-to tinted moisturizer that I have been using for years is Jouer in golden tint. It’s lightweight, it evens out imperfections and fades out any lines. It also has SPF 20. I use almost every day instead of a foundation because it is lightweight. I love it.
My next go-to item in my makeup bag is the Becca First light Priming filter. It’s hydrating and helps even out your skin tone. I put this on before I add my foundation. Another product that I love that makes your skin look fresh and dewy.
I was introduced to IT Cosmetics from my best friend Nikki, who happens to be my resource on any products, she happens to be a QVC junkie! IT Cosmetic products were developed by plastic surgeons. All their products give great coverage for any skin types. If I am going to an event or just want more coverage, I will first put on the Becca primer and then wear a foundation. The foundation I use is the CC+ cream with SPF 50+ with Illumination. It is rated as Allures readers choice award winner. I have been using it for years and I love it because it gives enough coverage without looking cakey. You can get it with or without the illumination. I always go for the glow.
My favorite blush that I have been using for years is from Nars in the color orgasm. Its a pinky peach powder blush with shimmer. It’s light and fresh and gives you a natural look.
I love to have a dewy, glowing look and another product that I have been using for years is by Benefit, Girl meets Pearl. I put this on top of my blush after foundation and primer. It is easy to apply and gives skin a healthy glow that looks illuminated and healthy.
I tend to try new mascaras every so often because the technology changes so fast. My friend gave me a Birchbox subscription and one of the items I fell in love with is the Marcelle Xtenstion plus mascara in Black. It is fragrance-free and hypoallergenic. I have tried many mascaras and the wand on this one really does separate the lashes and does not clump.
If you have big pores like me then you need the Pore Fessional by benefit. It minimizes the appearance of pores and fine lines and makes the skin look smooth. You can wear it under makeup or alone.
I have tried every under eye cream, vitamin product, you name it to help with the dark circles under my eyes and nothing works. I have three products that I use to cover my dark circles. First is the Becca Anti-fatigue under eye primer. It smooths the look of fine lines while reducing puffiness. It has cucumber, matcha green tea, and caffeine in it. On top of the primer, I use the Becca under eye brightening corrector. It smooths the look of fine lines around the eyes and has light-reflecting illuminators that instantly brighten the look of under-eye darkness. Finally, the last product to really give good coverage is my favorite concealer that you can buy at the grocery store is Maybelline New York Instant Age Rewind Eraser. It is the best concealer for under eye circles. It diminishes the appearance of puffiness around the eyes and delivers a smooth, flawless finish, without a cakey look or creases.
